Hyundai to Debut New Ride in Germany
It looks like Hyundai is going to be the one to watch at the annual Frankfurt Motor Show this month in Frankfort Germany. The automaker will be debuting a host of new Hyundai vehicles including the highly anticipated i20 Active. The new Active is a tougher more rugged version of the supermini hatchback that was the replacement for the Getz in 2008. This second generation i20 will be sporting a new crossover type look.
The i20 Active is based upon the previous five door model but this time around offers better ground clearance due to a new revised suspension. The i20 will also offer increased driver control and performance due to its new skid plates, jacked up wheel arches, and higher seating position. While the hatchback won’t be climbing mountains, it can definitely handle a steep hill or two. The new adjustments have gone to new lengths to increase the outdoor capabilities of this soft-roader. Buyers overseas will have a choice in selecting a 1.0 turbocharged three-cylinder engine offering 118 hp, or the higher efficiency of the 99 hp producing option.
The i20 Active will be one of many of the vehicles featured on the Hyundai stage stand alongside the new Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Vision G concept vehicle which was shown in Monterey. Rounding out the lot will be the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept that has been rumored to be the launch of the company’s new N performance sub-brand. “With the new i20 Active and New Santa Fe we further broaden our European crossover and SUV family, with all models renewed or replaced this year. These two new models also enhance our youngest-ever-line-up in Europe. The first eight months of 2015 were our most successful in Europe ever. And we are preparing the way for further organic growth during 2015 and beyond,” recently said Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe Thomas A. Schmid.
