Do I Need to Maintain to My Car During Quarantine?
It is a strange time for many of us. Many of us are working from home or not able to go about our normal routine because of Coronavirus. Many of us are staying home as much as we can to stop the spread of this. That means you may be using your vehicle less than ever or not at all.
However, even with your car out of sight, you don’t want it to be out of mind; there are still some routine maintenance things to be aware of even if you are not driving much during quarantine. Check some of those out below.
- Battery – Your car battery recharges as it drives, so if you are not driving it for a period of time, your battery could die, or you could have trouble starting your car. During quarantine, it is a good idea to start your car and run it every once in a while, so that you don’t have to worry about your car battery dying.
- Tires – Your tires are also something to watch out for. Your tires can develop flat spots if they sit in exactly the same place over a period of time. It is a good idea to move your car every once in a while, so that you do not have these flat spots with your tires.
- Oil – When you get your oil changed, the person usually tells you that you will need it changed after a few months or a few thousand miles. You may think that if you are now driving less that you can wait to get your oil changed. However, it is important to understand that when and if a car sits for a period of time unused, the oil can deteriorate. This means you might want to get your oil changed based on the amount of time that has passed, not the number of miles you have driven, particularly if you are driving a lot less right now.
Those are some of the main maintenance items you may have to worry about with less driving during quarantine, but if you are having any other problems, you can get help with those too.
