Hyundai Has a Car That Can Park Itself!
One of the breakout commercials during the 2021 Super Bowl was the cheeky Hyundai ad showcasing Hyundai’s Smart Park System. The Boston-set commercial featured celebrities with ties to New England’s largest city . The celebrities in the commercial included Chris Evans, John Krasinski, Rachel Dratch and David Ortiz . They helped boast the vehicle’s “smaht pahk” feature.
The Hyundai Smart Park System is now available on the 2020 and 2021 Hyundai Sonata. With this latest Hyundai technology, now is the perfect time to check out the Sonata. Its impressive self-parking capabilities cannot be beat. Check them out now at Rosen Algonquin!
What is Hyundai Smart Park?
With Hyundai Smart Park technology, the Sonata can park itself. It can maneuver the car into and out of tight parking spaces without any effort from the driver. The technology can be initiated in two ways. Before you exit your vehicle, you can hit the Smart Park button to prompt your car to park itself. Or, if the car is already parked, you can remote start your vehicle and initiate the parking function with the corresponding buttons on your key fob.
How Smart Park Works
To self-park, the Smart Park system uses the Sonata’s electronic gear selector and steering to put the vehicle into gear and perform course corrections as the vehicle moves. The Sonata’s parking sensors then work to detect both stationary and moving objects that might be in the path of the vehicle. The system will also straighten out the vehicle’s wheels if they are positioned to the side before beginning the process of parking. With one button press, the vehicle can travel a maximum of 23 feet in either direction to achieve proper parking. You can simply press the button again to allow it to move an additional 23 feet if needed. The system works best if you are standing within 10-16 feet of your vehicle while it is parking.
How to Get Hyundai Smart Park
For now, the Smart Park technology is exclusively available on the 2020 and 2021 Hyundai Sonata. The self-parking technology is available on the Sonata’s top Limited trim level, which starts at just $33,950.
