Hyundai Breaks Into the Luxury Market
When you think about what’s inside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, your first thought might be paintings and sculptures. You may even throw out a few names, Picasso, Rembrandt, Warhol. What about cars? No?
Now when you think about luxury vehicles, do you think about Hyundai? No? Well, you’re about to.
Last week the Korean company introduced their latest concept vehicle: Vision G — and it’s one ultra sleek coupe that’s not messing around. It’s not only eye catching to consumers, it’s also quiet a statement. Hyundai is running with the big brands now when it comes to luxury vehicles.
Though Hyundai has always had solid vehicles to choose from, upscale or not, what makes the Vision G so special is its design. The brand isn’t known for groundbreaking vehicle designs, and most of their cars’ looks tend to lean toward the more conservative side of the spectrum. The Vision G’s curved edges, yet more muscular build than previous vehicles makes this vehicles instantly recognizable as a luxury vehicle with all the right components, such as the 5.0 liter Tau V8 engine that yields a very impressive 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
The Vision G is a gorgeous car that ranks with the 2014 Audi Prologue concept, and that’s no coincidence. Hyundai/Kia’s chief designer, Peter Schreyer, used to work for Audi. And while Schreyer has announced he will be stepping down in 2017, Hyundai/Kia snagged Luc Donckerwolke of Bentley to take his place. Does this mean that brand has more luxury vehicles planned for the future? We’ll just have to wait and see. What we don’t have to wait too long for is seeing the Vision G displayed alongside other beautifully built cars at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
While the brand has slowly been gaining recognition as a company, it’s been an uphill battle to contend with already established big brands like Lexus, BMW and Cadillac. However, what sets the Vision G and all of Hyundai’s new, more luxurious vehicles apart is that we can get all the accoutrements and frills while still paying thousands of dollars less than the big dog contenders (and let’s be honest, as consumers all the shop talk can only mean so much when the price tag is just ridiculous.) Regardless of whether or not the new Vision G makes it all the way to the production line, it’s pretty clear that Hyundai isn’t playing around when it comes to luxury, and we should be looking forward to their new vehicles when they hit the market.
You can’t drive this concept yet, but you won’t have to be behind the wheel of the Vision G to feel surrounded by luxury. Come down to Rosen Hyundai and test drive a new Hyundai in Algonquin today!
