Hyundai Wins Multiple JD Power and Associates Awards
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Awards have become a respected authority on car quality over the past thirty years. This year, Hyundai‘s score far exceeded the industry average, ranking fourth this year among all brands — Hyundai has now ranked in the top four for the fourth time and at Rosen Hyundai, your Chicagoland Hyundai dealer, we couldn’t be more proud.
The awards serve as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. The annual results incorporate feedback from over 80,000 consumers, who complete a whopping 233-question survey.
Hyundai ranked fourth among all brands and second among non-premium automakers. In addition, the 2015 Hyundai Tucson was awarded for the highest initial quality in the small SUV segment and the 2015 Hyundai Accent earned the highest honor in the small-car segment for the second year in a row. Hyundai’s second-place winners were the 2015 Elantra and 2015 Santa Fe.
The Hyundai Tuscon topped the small SUV category. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, it comes with a six-speed automatic SHIFTRONIC gearbox with four-wheel drive. With styling provided by Hyundai’s Frankfurt design center, the Tucson’s European origins are evident in its aggressive, stable stance. The styling of its sculpted hood, wraparound headlights and rear roof spoiler further set it apart from every other CUV on the road.
The 2015 Hyundai Accent features leading performance numbers in its subcompact class, including an extremely low weight-to-power ratio of 18.1 lbs-hp, a high horsepower rate of 137, and 123 lb-ft torque. Last year, the Accent won two J.D. Power & Associates accolades: “Highest Ranked Small Car in Initial Quality” in Initial Quality and “Most Appealing Small Car” in Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout — the first time a non-premium brand took both titles in the same year.
The Elantra is Hyundai’s popular four-door compact sedan. Thanks to a likable design, quality craftsmanship, impressive safety scores, and reliability, the Elantra has served as one of Hyundai’s most popular vehicles for years. First introduced in 1990, it seems to get better with age. The newest Elantra earns impressive fuel economy numbers, thanks to its advanced 1.6-liter gasoline direct-injection engine and a new lightweight aluminum engine block.
The current-generation Hyundai Santa Fe crossover debuted in 2013, and the 2015 model features a DOHC 24-valve V-6, aluminum block and heads with direct fuel injection. It also won the 2014 Cars.com Best Family Car award, passing all IIHS safety crash test requirements and showing reliable gas mileage and handling. BlueLink technology, heated second-row seats, and an enlightening sunroof were just the cream on top.
Over the last eleven years, Hyundai has invested in a series of quality control initiatives, including a 24-hour, 365-days-a-year Global Quality Situation Room enabling engineers to respond in real-time to diverse quality issues. Quality Cluster facilities have been built around the globe to ensure the highest level of quality is integrated at every step in the production process – further promoting the company-wide belief that customer safety and satisfaction is at the core of Hyundai vehicle development.
The accolades are just a bonus.
