Is There a Hyundai Pickup Truck on the Horizon?
We are more than happy with our vehicle offering here at Rosen Hyundai, but wouldn’t it be great if our favorite automaker also made a pickup truck? Well, it looks like our wishful thinking has had some positive results in this area, as Hyundai Motor America has plans to be build a pickup for its North American market. It seems like this truck idea is taking a bold step in the direction towards an eventual full-size pickup, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
First things first: Hyundai seems to be edging towards the eventual production of a midsize crossover pickup. The Santa Cruz is slated to be the groundbreaking first model from the company. From what we’ve seen so far this crossover utility vehicle looks pretty sharp and it certainly turned more than a few heads when it was shown off at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year. That’s feat the Santa Cruz repeated at the Chicago Auto Show as well.
Like we said, there have been rumors for a few years now that Hyundai was contemplating a foray into the truck segment. Whether that caused any worry for Ford, Chevy, or Toyota, we can’t really say. Even though it was expected that the South Korean carmaker would come out with a full-sized pickup, a midsize offering is still sure to shake things up. Even though Hyundai is just going to dip a toe in the water at this point, a strong positive reaction from the public, and sales of course, would definitely move this project along in the right direction.
While mass production of this midsize crossover has not commenced yet, if consumer interest in the pickup is high that could change and we could be seeing the arrival of the Santa Cruz sometime this fall.
Even though we may not have any crossover Hyundai pickup trucks on our lot just yet, we do have plenty of great cars to choose from. Stop by and see for yourself at Rosen Hyundai. We are located at 771 South Randall Road in Algonquin, IL.
