Hyundai Launches New Awareness Campaign
Difference between non-Hyundai parts and Hyundai Genuine Parts
As per the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), who are urging that the owners of vehicles communicate with their automotive dealers and repair professionals with regard to replacement parts for their vehicles, Hyundai has officially launched a series of videos that serve to highlight and bring awareness to the dangers of that could arise when customers use counterfeit, aftermarket, or salvaged auto parts. This new consumer awareness campaign acts as a very good platform to discuss the difference between non-Hyundai parts and Hyundai Genuine Parts.
“Counterfeit Hyundai parts have been a growing problem over the last thirty years,” said Frank Ferrara, Executive Vice President in Customer Satisfaction at Hyundai Motor America. “Customers would see short-term savings after their vehicle was repaired, not even aware that non-Hyundai parts were used to bring these repair costs down. Short-term savings can have adverse, long-term implications on the vehicle and passengers, which ultimately ends up costing more. Consumer awareness is essential to addressing this issue and Hyundai is willing to do its part. The more people who understand the dangers behind using non-Hyundai components and see the benefits of purchasing original parts, the less likely they are to suffer severe consequences and lose value on their car. Safety and trust are paramount to our brand, which is why we are launching this campaign to encourage everyone to purchase original parts, every time.”
Of course, due to complications that can arise from higher costs, some customers sometimes tend to seek out cheaper options—or, in some cases, are told to do so by their insurance company—with regard to repairing their vehicles. However, cheaper options are often a gamble, as some of these independent repair shops are not recognized by the automakers for collision repairs, offer copies of original parts, or even offer recycled pieces salvaged from other collision-damaged vehicles. These parts can often have hidden dangers, as they are usually unsafe for long-term use. Too, counterfeit and recycled parts can also significantly affect a vehicle’s resale value, making it either harder to sell a car in the future or impossible to sell the vehicle for what it would have been worth had the questionable parts not been used.
Therefore, Hyundai has started insisting and encouraging its customers to use their vehicle’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) when it comes to the replacement of parts on Hyundai vehicles. This is due to the fact that all Hyundai vehicles are designed and manufactured in order to accomplish Hyundai’s very specific engineering specifications.
