2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Rally Edition Exceeds Expectations
With Hyundai’s new Veloster Turbo Rally Edition, the already-stylish vehicle finds itself rolling with the best of them – its high-efficiency, high-output engine, excellent interior materials and high-fashion paint jobs put it far ahead of the competition. The Rally Edition notably comes with a level of exclusivity that isn’t marred by impracticality; it has a production run of just 1,200 but is still going for just over $20,000. That’s a deal if we’re ever seen one.
At Rosen Hyundai, we already pegged the Veloster as the most dynamic-looking car in the Hyundai family. It’s instantly recognizable for its low-slung hatchback and projector headlamps with LED accent lighting flanking a huge trapezoidal family grille. The Veloster’s profile emphasizes its large wheels and dramatically sloped roof with flashy, flared fenders and a wide, flat upper section. It’s asymmetrical – something we definitely don’t see often – with a reverse-opening rear door on the passenger side for easier access into the back seat.
With the Rally edition, we’re seeing an even more finely-tuned sporty look than we did with the Veloster. Hyundai has added unique 18-inch Rays wheels, badges and carbon-fiber aerodynamic add-ons. And, of course, the Matte Blue paint job (which comes as part of the Rally Edition package) is sure to stop anyone dead in their tracks.
The Veloster features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a lightweight torsion-beam rear. It’s a responsive, tenacious drive that really shines on those tight, back-country roads. The Rally Edition comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission that delivers confident, smooth shifts.
Inside, the instrument panel will be familiar to Hyundai fans; the typical dual round gauges, small info screen for vehicle functions and insectile center stack are all standard. The Rally Edition comes with a seven-inch touch screen that handles radio, HVAC and infotainment functions. Siri EyesFree and Pandora are both integrated into the system and an advanced Sirius/XM satellite radio has you set up with navigation, weather and sports/news feeds. There’s even an onboard 10MB hard drive to store your music and apps. The kids are sure to be happy on your weekend adventures – the Rally Edition has an available 115v outlet so they can plug in a gaming console or any other small electronic device. Hyundai really has thought of everything here.
Of course, safety is always a paramount concern at Rosen Hyundai. That’s why we’re pleased to mention that the Veloster has a five-star overall crash test rating from NHTSA, indicating excellent occupant protection in front, side and rollover collisions. The Veloster has a rollover sensor that deploys the side airbags in the event of a rollover crash, and standard equipment includes six airbags, a backup camera, electronic brakeforce distribution and stability control.
You’d probably expect to pay out the nose for a vehicle like this, but the limited-edition Rally Edition is available for under $25,000. Curious? Stop by Rosen Hyundai today and have a look for yourself.
