Hyundai Teams Up with Blood Type Racing to Create New Elantra Sport Concept Car
Each year, the SEMA show in Las Vegas brings drivers an insane assortment of high-performance, stylish supercars. This year, Hyundai stole the show thanks to its newest partnership with Blood Type Racing. The collaboration resulted in a huge splash at the 2017 SEMA show when the new BTR Edition Elantra Sport Concept car was unveiled.
The Elantra Sport Concept car is more than just a beefed-up version of the Elantra Sport–it’s a fully re-designed, meticulously customized version of the Elantra that’s capable of handling the racetrack with as much ease as it handles the road.
“The BTR Edition Elantra Sport takes the Elantra beyond its capable OEM-development roots without sacrificing daily drivability,” Blood Type Racing product manager Sam Lee told reporters at the SEMA show. “Building upon the well-developed Elantra Sport platform, powertrain and design fundamentals, we’ve given enthusiasts a new vision of where this affordable sport compact wants to go.”
The BTR Edition Elantra Sport Concept features a revamped, super sleek look. The vehicle’s new design accents include an Aerotek front/side/rear lip kit, an APR GTC-200 GT rear wing, Diode Dynamic headlights and a BASF Glasurit Arancio Borealis paint job done by AutoArt.
Of course, not all of the Elantra Sport Concept’s upgrades are purely cosmetic. The vehicle’s most interesting components were designed to increase the Elantra’s aptitude for exceptional handling. The BTR and Hyundai concept car sits on HSD coil overs with 19 inch SSR GTX01 wheels which are wrapped in ultra-strong, high-grip Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires. The car also comes with a Pierce Motorsports chassis brace, a strut brace, sway bars and a Fella Big Brake kit to ensure the highest quality braking experience.
Under the hood, the collaboration between Blood Type Racing and Hyundai really shines. The Elantra Sport Concept has been upgraded to include a Devil’s Own water/methanol injection kit which guarantees some absolutely insane power gains and temperature management. As always, Blood Type Racing also provided a custom tune with a Torcon cold-air intake and a Pierce Motorsports exhaust.
Inside, drivers will enjoy some uber-sophisticated styling choices. The vehicle boasts a re-stitched OEM-style sport interior with diamond-stitched floor mats, gorgeous new textiles and a SoCal GarageWorks carbon-fiber steering wheel. There’s no denying that the BTR Edition Elantra Sport Concept is unmatched in terms of performance, versatility and unique (but somehow still classically modern) style.
