New Technology Will Let You Pay for Coffee with Your Hyundai
It’s 2018 and we’re living in the future–so why are you still using your clunky old debit card to pay for your morning coffee? Now you can get your java delivered to you Jetsons style thanks to Hyundai’s new partnership with Xevo.
In collaboration with Xevo, Hyundai developed a new payment system which will be fully integrated into Hyundai’s Blue Link infotainment system. With this new high-tech upgrade, drivers will be able to select their favorite local coffee shop in the navigation system and place their order through the vehicle’s screen. Once the order is received, the navigation system will automatically route the driver to the coffee shop where their piping hot cup of morning brain fuel will be ready and waiting.
“These new services work with the Hyundai Blue Link connected-car system to enhance the driving experience,” Manish Mehrotra, director of digital business planning and connected operations for Hyundai Motor America, said in a recent interview. “This is why we have selected scenarios that are part of daily drives and longer trips. Offering this level of convenience is part of our ongoing effort to create best-in-class ownership experiences.”
Although the coffee pick-up example is our personal favorite, the system will also allow drivers to find and pay for gas, parking and other amenities. The updated system will be implemented in every new Hyundai for sale very soon. These include the 2018 Tucson Limited, Tucson SEL plus, and standard in all 2018 Santa Fe.
“Once our owners experience placing a to-go order using their vehicle’s touchscreen and seamlessly routing to the location, we know they’re going to love it,” Mehrotra said. “Offering easy-to-use payment options as part of navigation will simplify the driving experience and maximize time spent with eyes on the road.”
To make this game-changing tech possible, Hyundai couldn’t have partnered with a better company than Xevo. Xevo, a global leader in data-driven user experiences for the automotive industry, debuted its Xevo Market tech in 2017 and immediately attracted Hyundai’s attention. Although the merchant-to-driver commerce platform is already available in millions of vehicles internationally, the tech has been specially refined and tweaked to suit Hyundai drivers.
Best of all, Xevo Market allows brands to reach drivers wherever they go. That means all your favorite services will eventually be available at the touch of a button: you’ll be able to book restaurant reservations, order-ahead takeout food, reserve EV charging and more. Someday soon, you’ll even be able to book service appointments at a Hyundai dealership near you from the comfort of your vehicle’s infotainment system.
