[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1871″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released the current IIHS 2020 Top Safety Picks<\/a>. Once again, Hyundai took sole leadership as the most Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awarded brand in the industry when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hyundai is the Top Awarded Brand<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

With these latest awards, Hyundai now offers 11 Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ models in the United States. Additionally, two Hyundai SUVs now have Top Safety Pick+ ratings. In the past, Hyundai was the leading awarded brand in 2018 and was tied for the top industry spot in August and February of 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While current IIHS Top Safety Picks<\/a> and Top Safety Pick+ include all Hyundai SUV models, the 2020 awards added another Hyundai model to the award winning list. The IIHs awarded the 2021 Hyundai Palisade SUV a 2020 Top Safety Pick+ designation. It achieved this TSP+ rating by standardizing LED headlamps on all 2021 trim levels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brian Latouf, the Chief Safety Office of Hyundai Motor North America, said of the IIHS awards, \u201cThe IIHS continues to set a very high bar for Top Safety Pick awards. Performing well in these tests helps keep our customers and their families safe.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The IIHS is a private nonprofit organization funded by automobile insurance companies and insurance organizations. It\u2019s mission is to \u201creduce losses from motor vehicle crashes.\u201d They do so by reviewing deaths, injuries, and property damage that results from motor vehicle crashes, as well as by researching and reporting on crashworthiness, crash avoidance, and roadway design.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IIHS determines the Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ award winners through several stringent safety crash tests, and TSP+ winners undergo even stricter tests. These tests include a Driver\u2019s Side Small Overlap Front crash test, a Passenger Side Small Overlap Front crash test, a Moderate Overlap Front crash test, a Side Impact crash test, Head Restraints tests, a Front Crash Prevention Systems test, and a Headlight Rating test.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
