That\u2019s why we\u2019re excited to announce that the <a href=\"https:\/\/rosenhyundai.financing.dealer.com\/2017-hyundai-santa-fe-sport.htm\" target=\"_blank\">2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport midsize SUV<\/a> earned the 2016 Top Safety+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The award applies to the Santa Fe Sport with optional front-crash prevention.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving good marks last year with room for improvement, Hyundai stepped up and made sure that the Santa Fe Sport\u2019s structure was as strong as possible for the 2017 model year. The automaker\u2019s persistence and engineering innovation paid off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA beefed-up occupant compartment takes the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport from a marginal to a good rating in the small overlap front test,\u201d the Institute said in a statement. \u201cPrior to the changes, the midsize SUV\u2019s structure failed to hold up in the small overlap test, which replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with a vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In all the other tests, the Santa Fe Sport passed with flying colors in both years \u2013 picking up a rating of \u201cgood\u201d. The <a href=\"https:\/\/rosenhyundai.financing.dealer.com\/new-inventory\/index.htm?year=2017&amp;&amp;&amp;&amp;model=Santa+Fe+Sport&amp;\" target=\"_blank\">2017 Santa Fe Sport<\/a> also earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test. That rating applies to both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Santa Fe Sport. The 2017 five-star safety rating is identical to the model\u2019s predecessor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosenhyundai.com\/new-inventory\/index.htm?search=&amp;model=Santa+Fe+Sport&amp;year=2017&amp;gvBodyStyle=SUV\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-338\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.rosenhyundai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RosenHyundai.Retargeting.Elantra.002.jpg\" alt=\"Hyundai Deals Near Algonquin\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A lot of thought has gone into making sure the Santa Fe Sport (and all other Hyundai vehicles) are as safe as possible. The 2017 Santa Fe lineup includes standard safety equipment as well as vehicle stability management with electronic stability control and traction control, seven airbags, a rearview camera, antilock brakes and hill-start assist control. Optional safety features, including lane-departure warnings and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, are also available.<\/p>\n<p>The Santa Fe Sport\u2019s IIHS ratings match those of its 2016 model year competitors. Competition includes the Subaru Outback and Nissan Murano, both of which also received Top Safety Pick Plus ratings. Whether they\u2019ll continue to match up the Santa Fe\u2019s safety package remains to be seen \u2013 they haven\u2019t been rated for the new model year yet.<\/p>\n<p>At Hyundai, you\u2019re always safe in our hands.
